Rep. Louie Gohmert appeared on “Fox and Friends” to discuss the ability of President-elect Donald Trump to follow through with his campaign promise to build a wall along the southern border.
The Texas Republican was confident that the wall could be built, and that Congress would help find the funds to do it. More importantly, he added that there were funds already appropriated for it.
“There’s been billions of dollars appropriated for a virtual wall,” he said. However, Janet Napolitano, head of Homeland Security, apparently didn’t want to use the money for that.
Gohmert told Doocy that she said she didn’t want to do that, and “we let her get away with disobeying the law.”
Apparently, disobeying the law is a common attribute of Democrats.
“And actually, you know, we had appropriated money during the Bush administration that didn’t get spent for the wall. So, yeah, it’s going to be great to have somebody that’s actually following the law.”
The chairman of the Natural Resources Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations also said that money for building the wall could come from “all of the illegals we’ve been in-processing, adding that Trump could get started on the wall when he had a good Homeland Security secretary.
“It will be awesome to have a president and a cabinet that will follow the law,” Gohmert said. “It’s amazing what you can get Congress to do when you lead and push them in the right direction.”
“We’re going to be able to get this done,” the Texas Republican added. “It’s going to happen.”
While that may be a bit of bad news for all of the naysayers who said it was impossible to build a wall at the border, it’s exciting news for the country.
